XTA 839 | Albion Nimbus | Fleet No. SN839

One of a batch of 6 Willowbrook bodied Albion Nimbus's ordered for Devon General, XTA 839 was displayed at the Commercial Motor Show at Earles Court in October 1958 in full Devon General livery, the vehicle was then used by Aldershot & District for two weeks as a demonstrator before finally arriving at Devon General at the end of the year. The allocation history is fairly chequered, spending most of its life between Exeter, Newton Abbot and Torquay.

Sold on to Fowey Bus & Taxi, the vehicle passed through two more operators back in Devon before initially entering preservation in 1976.

The bus was purchased by Richard Holliday in 1981 and would re-enter service with Red Bus services operating Devon County tendered services. Withdrawn in 1991 the vehicle has passed through a small number of preservationists until the current day, even returning to class 6 use briefly in the early 2010s. The vehicle was purchased by the current owner in 2025.
