K803 ORL | Volvo Olympian | Fleet No. 803/34003

In July 1993, First Western National purchased 801/2/3/4 (K801/2/3/4 ORL), four new Volvo Olympian's with Northern Counties coach seated bodies. Sporting the then new 'badgers & flags' livery with the red bordered destination boxes - common to Plymouth, they looked very smart. These were for the X80 Plymouth - Torquay service initially and worked most of their life out of Plymouth or Torpoint depots however, they have ventured further west to Penzance! By 2014, only 801 (K801 ORL) and 803 (K803 ORL) were left and soon the opportunity to save one the two survivors was possible. Peter Dalley from Troon managed to secure 803 when she eventually came out of service and 801 was secured by the CBPS and has been stored for ongoing preservation. Peter has enterred 803 on several Penzance Bus Running days where she proved very popular. At the moment, 803 is stored awaiting some attention to gearbox selection problems but it is hoped she will return to the road in 2024.
