K801 ORL | Volvo Olympian | Fleet No. 801/34001

In July 1993, First Western National purchased 801/2/3/4 (K801/2/3/4 ORL), four new Volvo Olympian's with Northern Counties coach seated bodies. Sporting the then new 'badgers & flags' livery with the red bordered destination boxes - common to Plymouth, they looked very smart. These were for the X80 Plymouth - Torquay service initially and worked most of their life out of Plymouth or Torpoint depots however, they have ventured further west to Penzance! By 2014, only 801 (K801 ORL) and 803 (K803 ORL) were left and soon the opportunity to save one of these survivors was possible. With 803 soldiering on in service, it was 801 that came our way. Since being acquired, 801 has been stored awaiting attention.

On a side note..... K803 ORL has also been saved by a fellow preservationist Peter Dalley and is now a member of the Cornwall Bus Preservation Society!
