In July 1993, First Western National purchased 801In July 1993, First Western National purchased four new Volvo Olympian's with Northern Counties coach seated bodies. Sporting the then new 'badgers & flags' livery with the red bordered destination boxes K801 ORL | Volvo Olympian | Fleet No. 801/34001 | CBPG/2/3/4 (K801/2/3/4 ORL), four new Volvo Olympian's with Northern Counties coach seated bodies. Sporting the then new 'badgers & flags' livery with the red bordered destination boxes - common to Plymouth, they looked very smart. These were for the X80 Plymouth - Torquay service initially and worked most of their life out of Plymouth or Torpoint depots however, they have ventured further west to Penzance! By 2014, only 801 (K801 ORLIn July 1993, First Western National purchased four new Volvo Olympian's with Northern Counties coach seated bodies. Sporting the then new 'badgers & flags' livery with the red bordered destination boxes K801 ORL | Volvo Olympian | Fleet No. 801/34001 | CBPG) and 803 (K803 ORL) were left and soon the opportunity to save one of these survivors was possible. Clutch replacement on our Bristol LH MUO 328F - Round 2

 

Round 2...... 

After discovering a minor whoopsie on the original replacement with the release bearing being the wrong way round, we had to take the gearbox back out, put this right and then try again. Everything was going well, but unfortunately (as most bus preservationists will know) this was not to be case. We now have a problem with the slave pack which has given us a rock hard pedal. Oh joys..... yet another job to do! Anyone would think this bus doesn't want to come back on the road! Read more

1147 gets a little more work

Having a couple of spare hours this afternoon and needing to get out of the house, I finished off the replacement of 1147Bristol VR AFJ 749T 1147's top deck double seats. We've just got the 3 single seats and the front bench to do and it'll be complete!

ECW closed in 1987 bodywork was one of 10 new medium sized buses delivered to Western National in the summer of 1968 with 5 going to Southern National. Built by Bristol Commercial VehiclesBristol Commercial Vehicles Ltd was a manufacturer of buses and trucks based in Bristol, England. Closed 1983. (BCV), the light weight LH was the replacement for the earlier MW and SU models which had similar mid-mounted, horizontal, underfloor engines. The engine was a LeylandLeyland Bus was a British bus manufacturer. It emerged from the Rover Group (formerly British Leyland) as a management buyout of the bus business. It was subsequently acquired by Volvo Buses in 1988 and the name finally disappeared in 1993 400 fitted to a manual 5 speed gearbox and the Girling air brake system was adopted.   Read more
