Well things are a bit quieter in May thank goodness after a frantic April. I am very pleased to report that our Easter Sunday Penzance Running DayEach year in April CBPG holds an Annual Running Day with free bus trips around West Cornwall - check our Events for more information was the most successful yet with the amount of passenger journey's up again on the previous year. So a big thank you to all vehicle owners for providing the free transport for the day, all the helpers selling programmes, the marshals and backroom staff for getting all routes and paperwork sorted for the event. Also a big thank you to all of you who turned up on the day and purchased a programme which helps us to put on the event.

The 'Cornish Fairways' vinyls turned up just in time to be applied to LHS 1254Former Western National Bristol LHS 1254 (VOD 124K), one of six purchased for Mousehole - Penzance route; acquired privately by Steve and Paul towards the end of 2017 (VOD 124KFormer Western National Bristol LHS 1254 (VOD 124K), one of six purchased for Mousehole - Penzance route; acquired privately by Steve and Paul towards the end of 2017) together with the Bristol & West advert for the rear panel. Thank you Graham for getting this done.

I should also mention here that on the Saturday before the running day, Steve and Lee spent a very long and stressful day sorting major electrical issues with LH 1318Royal Blue; BDV 318L | Bristol LH | Fleet No. 1318 | CBPG (BDV 318LRoyal Blue; BDV 318L | Bristol LH | Fleet No. 1318 | CBPG) which culminated in a last minute rewiring of all the rear end lighting. A brilliant effort which meant the vehicle was able to take part next day!

We were very pleased that all our vehicles performed well on the day and the feedback received from those attending seems to confirm we have an event to proud of. Penzance with the bus station is ideally suited for the event and with the First Kernow depot at Long Rock available to us to store the vehicles over night, we have to say a big thank you to the Company for all their support once again. Also a thank you to Sainsbury's, Penzance for allowing us to use their car park to assemble the vehicles before the road run through the town.

The next weekend saw us providing free buses for the Trevithick Day Park & Ride. We used three VR's, 1141 (AFJ 706T), 1226November 2009, CBPG took over ownership of Bristol VR 38873(LFJ 873W) from Western National Preservation Group. Our back up vehicle was the Dart 401Badgers and Flags Pointer Dart L401 VCV | Dennis Pointer Dart | Fleet No. 401 | CBPG (L401 VCVBadgers and Flags Pointer Dart L401 VCV | Dennis Pointer Dart | Fleet No. 401 | CBPG) which did do one fully loaded return trip from Camborne late in the day. A very successful day for us with 821 passenger journey'a with several dogs carried too.

The May Working Day was well attended with volunteers working extremely hard to move a lot of spare bus parts to our storage container, some of which had been stored in our VR 1147Bristol VR AFJ 749T 1147 (AFJ 749TBristol VR AFJ 749T 1147).

Although 'friends' membership runs from January to December, I don't mind when anyone joins up. For £3 a month (£36 a year), we will be able to continue doing jobs like this.

If you would like to become a 'friend' of the CBPSCornwall Bus Preservation Society - formed by a group of bus and coach enthusiasts who are involved in maintaining, restoring and preserving a number of buses which saw operational service in Cornwall that have been bought, donated or even loaned to members of the group, please contact us (details on the site). Thank you.
