Happy New Year to all out there in the bus/coach preservation world. Well December 2018 flew away leaving me with nothing new to report. We did meet to start planning our programme of works for 2019 especially concerning vehicles that we hope to have at Penzance on Easter Sunday for the Running DayEach year in April CBPG holds an Annual Running Day with free bus trips around West Cornwall - check our Events for more information.

So with this in mind, work has commenced on Bristol LHSBristol LH chassis range introduced in spring 1968, 3 variants: LHS at 26' (7.9m); 1254Former Western National Bristol LHS 1254 (VOD 124K), one of six purchased for Mousehole - Penzance route; acquired privately by Steve and Paul towards the end of 2017 (VOD 124KFormer Western National Bristol LHS 1254 (VOD 124K), one of six purchased for Mousehole - Penzance route; acquired privately by Steve and Paul towards the end of 2017) to prepare for repainting of the roof and all the area above the windows which has got shabby with paint flaking and scratches, some caused by the 7ft wide lane that I drove a 7ft 6in wide bus down after my guide forgot where he was on the Kingsbridge Running DayFree vintage bus services on coast and country routes in South Devon usually held in September!!

We have also prepared Royal Blue Bristol LH 1318Royal Blue; BDV 318L | Bristol LH | Fleet No. 1318 | CBPG (BDV 318LRoyal Blue; BDV 318L | Bristol LH | Fleet No. 1318 | CBPG) for a repaint stripping off all legal lettering, transfers, badges and catches ready for the call to the paint shop. Also work has commenced on the Albion Nimbus removing wheels, brake drums and brakes. A long term project but she will return to Mousehole in due course.

We have a group working day on Saturday 26th January 2019 so we will keep you posted nearer the date as to what and where we will be active.

Lee has been working on the site paying particular attention to the vehicles that fall under the groups umbrella. If you tap on the photograph of a particular vehicle you will find details regarding make, model, age and brief current situation status. It is our intention to keep you informed here and on Facebook of ongoing works.

If you would like to become a 'friend' of the CBPSCornwall Bus Preservation Society - formed by a group of bus and coach enthusiasts who are involved in maintaining, restoring and preserving a number of buses which saw operational service in Cornwall that have been bought, donated or even loaned to members of the group, please contact us (details on the site) as your subscription will help to get and keep these vehicles in preservation. Thank you.
