Not a lot for me to report in the news update for July but the CBPSCornwall Bus Preservation Society - formed by a group of bus and coach enthusiasts who are involved in maintaining, restoring and preserving a number of buses which saw operational service in Cornwall that have been bought, donated or even loaned to members of the group is still active and still looking for more of you to become 'friends'. You may have read in Lee's blog that our Bristol LHBristol Commercial Vehicles Light Horizontal engined single-decker bus chassis LH at 30' (9.1m); nearly 2,000 were built between 1967 and 1982 716Bristol LH 6L with 45 seat ECW bodywork was one of 10 new medium sized buses delivered to Western National in the summer of 1968 MUO 328F | Bristol LH | Fleet No. 716 | CBPG(MUO 328FBristol LH 6L with 45 seat ECW bodywork was one of 10 new medium sized buses delivered to Western National in the summer of 1968 MUO 328F | Bristol LH | Fleet No. 716 | CBPG) has been a 'little tinker' to get sorted and ready for an MOTMinistry of Transport test. And then what happens? We get squatters in the form of a nest with young 'on board' under the dash! Perhaps as we had left the front off 716, this was too much of a temptation. We fired up Bristol VRBristol VR Bristol's rear-engined bus chassis, designed as competitor to Leyland Atlantean and Daimler Fleetline. 1141(AFJ 706T) and moved her to another shed earlier in the month. Still quite a bit of work to be done on her yet so it may be 2013 before we get her back on the road. We now have Bristol VR 1003Bristol VR with fleet number 1003 (VDV 141S) is a 1978 convertible open topper, one of 11 delivered to Western National/Devon General between November 1977 and March 1978(VDV 141SBristol VR fleet number 1003 (VDV 141S) 1978 convertible open topper, one of 11 delivered to Western National/Devon General between November 1977 and March 1978; was originally numbered 941 and named 'Illustrious' VDV 141S | Bristol VR | Fleet No. 1003 (ex 941 'Illustrious') | CBPG) out of MOT so we hope that nothing too serious is awaiting Steve. This meant that our Dennis Dart 401Badgers and Flags Pointer Dart L401 VCV | Dennis Pointer Dart | Fleet No. 401 | CBPG (L401 VCVBadgers and Flags Pointer Dart L401 VCV | Dennis Pointer Dart | Fleet No. 401 | CBPG) went to Plymouth for the WNPGWestern National Preservation Group Rally on the Hoe where fine warm weather was a bonus.

We are going to be quite involved with the West of England Steam Rally at Stithians near Redruth this year on 17th, 18th and 19th August and we will have a stall at the show all of which will be good for the CBPSCornwall Bus Preservation Society including Western National Preservation Group - formed by group of bus and coach enthusiasts who are involved in maintaining, restoring and preserving a number of buses which saw operational service in Cornwall that have been bought, donated or even loaned to members of the group. More than ever now with an extra vehicle in the Society, we need more covered storage so please keep your eyes and ears open for us. Thank you.
