CBPS news update for November/December 2010

As Christmas approaches and 2010 draws to an end, I thought an update of the site was more than overdue. We have not got a lot to report as we have all been rather busy and the weather in west Cornwall has not been what I would call 'suitable' for bus preservation work. MOTMinistry of Transport test's for our fleet is earmarked for the new year with LeylandLeyland Bus was a British bus manufacturer. It emerged from the Rover Group (formerly British Leyland) as a management buyout of the bus business. It was subsequently acquired by Volvo Buses in 1988 and the name finally disappeared in 1993 OlympianLeyland Olympian was a 2-axle and 3-axle double-decker bus chassis manufactured by British Leyland/Leyland Bus in the United Kingdom from 1980 to 1993. The 3rd Kingsbridge Vintage Bus Running DayEach year in April CBPG holds an Annual Running Day with free bus trips around West Cornwall - check our Events for more information was held on Saturday 18 September 2010 and the weather was brilliant. The bit of disappointing news as far as the CBPGCornwall Bus Preservation Society - formed by a group of bus and coach enthusiasts who are involved in maintaining, restoring and preserving a number of buses which saw operational service in Cornwall that have been bought, donated or even loaned to members of the group is concerned is that we have been unable to get our Bristol VRBristol VR Bristol's rear-engined bus chassis, designed as competitor to Leyland Atlantean and Daimler Fleetline. 1141(AFJ 706T) through an MOTMinistry of Transport test in time for the event as we had hoped. We can confirm that our plans for the '3rd Penzance VR Revival & Vintage Bus Running DayEach year in April CBPG holds an Annual Running Day with free bus trips around West Cornwall - check our Events for more information' to be held at the Penzance bus station on Sunday 18 April 2010 are taking shape well with anexcellent entry of vehicles to hopefully appeal to the young and not so young! We hope to kick things off at 10am with trips departing from the bus station running throughout the day until about 4.30pm. Read more

The new web site is in progress and we hope to have it up and running shortly. At last our first newsletter is almost ready to go to print after a few teething problems were experienced so I would like to say thank you to all CBPGCornwall Bus Preservation Society - formed by a group of bus and coach enthusiasts who are involved in maintaining, restoring and preserving a number of buses which saw operational service in Cornwall that have been bought, donated or even loaned to members of the group 'friends' for being patient with us in our new venture.
